Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) is known to have infected and become latent in more than 90% of the population worldwide. Sometimes EBV can reactivate infections. Researchers have conducted a study to assess whether there is an association between EBV reactivation and long COVID symptoms.
According to a study published in the journal Pathogens , EBV reactivation may be the reason for long COVID symptoms . The study was conducted on 185 patients with previous SARS-CoV-2 infection. Primary inclusion criteria included a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection, and secondary inclusion criteria included age 21-74 years without any severe medical health conditions.
