Recently, the supreme court has given a ruling that surgeries cannot be conducted in a hospital without ICU facility. So me being a paediatrician like to ask whether the apex court has clarified its position on paediatric surgeries. Can paediatric surgeries be conducted with only an adult ICU or a PICU (paediatric ICU) is mandatory for paediatric surgeries.
I being a resident of Kolkata know that PICU facility is available in only a handful of hospitals in Kolkata. Regarding NICU nobody is going to face a problem as NICU are very common in a hospital. Kindly opine.
