Case presentation A 9-year-old girl presented with a one-month history of weight loss and excessive urination for three days. The child had no history of dysuria, polydipsia, or polyphagia. Family history The patient’s mother was diagnosed with gestational diabetes three years ago and is taking oral antihyperglycemic agents. In addition, the patient’s mother, maternal and paternal grandmothers, maternal grandaunt, and paternal uncle all are diabetic patients.
