Inflammatory bowel disease unclassified (IBDU) was associated with an increased level of adiponectin reported in a recent study published in the Journal of Coloproctology. IBD is one of the chronic, and inflammatory intestinal disorders that require long-term medications and care. However, there is less evidence for the level of adiponectin in IBDU and its association with various parameters such as lipid profile and Body Mass Index (BMI). In this regard, a recent case-controlled study evaluated the level of adiponectin in IBDU patients.

A total of 60 individuals were involved in the study groups. These 60 patients were classified in patient group [n=40; age: 51.95 ± 2.50 (23-78)] and healthy control group [n=20; age: 41.00 ± 2.50 (20–62)].
