A 79-year-old male was admitted from the endoscopy unit after an oesophagogastroscopy. Initially, he visited his general practitioner with an issue of increasing difficulty in swallowing. History For the past few months, the patient had to be on a soft diet and now can only tolerate thin fluids. He suffered weight loss of one stone over the past month. He doesn’t have any other relevant medical history.

Personal history : The patient is  a heavy smoker and consumes almost half a bottle of wine each evening. Examination The patient is cachexic in appearance. Endoscopy was performed.
