From the perspective of physicians and patients, hypoglycemia remains a major limiting factor in effective blood sugar management in diabetes - from initiation to titration to maintenance phase. Fear of hypoglycemia during titration phase erodes patient confidence in his/her insulin and leads to negative treatment experience and finally discontinuation of insulin treatment. Evidence has also indicated that hypoglycemia in the first three months of Basal insulin therapy predicts the risk of hypoglycemia in the long term.
