A 34 weeks premature girl child was born with distended abdomen. Straight X-ray abdomen showed no gas under the diaphragm and USG abd showed ascites an hour after birth. She was born in a tier 2 city where neonatology facilities were not very good. Next day she was brought to tertiary level private hospital where she was diagnosed to have abdominal perforation. Immediately she was operated and was found to have Perforated Meconium Ileus with severe Sepsis.

As per available literature unless proved otherwise perforated Meconium Ileus indicates towards Cystic Fibrosis. The child was also found to have bicuspid aortic valve with peak gradient of 25. Kindly share if there is any Indian study about Cystic fibrosis in premature babies. What would be her prognosis /quality of life if she survives?
