Melanomas are one of the common intraocular tumours which are benign, malignant, pigmented and non-pigmented. Melanomas are more common in whites are than blacks and have an early tendency for liver metastasis . However, if diagnosed and treated in time one can prevent liver metastasis. There are 6 per million in the USA, 7.5 per million in Denmark and other Scandinavian countries.
There are 80 choroidal, 8 percent iris difficult to diagnose due to their atypical manifestations.However, in most of cases present as solid or Exudative Retinal detachments on Indirect Ophthalmoscopy and B scan ultrasound.
