Surgical site infection (SSI) remains a major cause of postoperative morbidity following gynecologic surgery. Although cefazolin and ceftriaxone are commonly used for perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis, evidence comparing their effectiveness and identifying patients at higher risk of SSI is limited. A study published in the International Journal of Women's Health compared postoperative SSI outcomes with cefazolin and ceftriaxone and evaluated clinical predictors of SSI in 366 patients undergoing gynecologic surgery.

Cefazolin and ceftriaxone showed comparable postoperative SSI outcomes.
