Bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) are the two Chronic respiratory diseases(CRD) that together account for a global burden of more than 400 million patients. In India, CRD leads to more than 7% of deaths and a 3% loss of disability-adjusted life years (DALYs). The severity of asthma is stated as the intrinsic intensity of the disease process and it directs the stepwise initiation of the treatment. The current article describes the severity wise treatment protocol of chronic asthma.
