A theranostic agent (therapeutics as well as diagnostics), TGP18 is a molecule developed for use as a probe in advanced imaging techniques. TGP18 molecule selectively recognizes the BCL-2 G-quadruplexes (GQ) genes in the non-canonical tumor cell DNA. It has the unique property of loop stacking and groove binding with BCL-2 GQ genes in non-canonical DNA structures of tumor cells.
TGP18 is used as a probe in tumor tissue imaging techniques due to its detection capacity at the lower edge of far-red to near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopic window.
