A 19-year-old boy complained coughing up sputum. History A boy has problems with a cough and sputum production since he was 2 years old and he was detected as bronchitic. After the treatment, till he became 14 years, he often complained of coughing up sputum However, in last 2 years, he was admitted to hospital thrice for a cough and purulent sputum: In the first two occasions detected Haemophilus influenza was grown on culture of the sputum. On the third occasion (2 months before the presentation) Pseudomonas aeruginosa was isolated. Examination The doctors sent the sputum for the testing and scanty growth of Pseudomonas was observed.
