The initiative of global hand hygiene day was introduced in 2009 on 5 th May  to maintain and promote visibility and sustained hand hygiene in health care. The COVID-19 pandemic years 2020 and 2021 enlightened us with the importance of maintaining good hand hygiene as hands are the first body parts that cause the spread of infection. This year on world hand hygiene day, the World Health Organization calls healthcare workers and health facilities to achieve effective hand hygiene . Healthcare point of care is an integral part in achieving good hand hygiene as three factors come together: The healthcare worker, the treatment involving contact with the recipient (patient), and the patient himself.
