One of the big problems which plague   doctors today is the risk of violence against them. They are always scared that in case their patient takes a turn for the worse,  their friends and relatives will start ganging up on them and beating them up. This atmosphere of fear which prevails in a hospital means that doctors are scared of  coming to work. This is especially true if you are a junior doctor who is working in the night shift , and has to handle critically  ill patients - for example, those in the ICU and in the Casualty.

Many juniors have faced verbal abuse - and some have even been manhandled by irate relatives, for no fault of theirs.
