In the present study, our aims and objectives were quantification and comparison of mitral regurgitation and to study mitral valve anatomy by two-dimensional and three-dimensional transthoracic echocardiography . We studied 80 subjects out of which 53 (66.3%) were females with the mean age of subjects 54.68+14.02 years, mean weight, 62.24+9.48 kg, mean height 161.35+7.19 cms, mean systolic pressure 166.63+22.23 and mean diastolic pressure was 79.97+80.1 mmHg. 33(41.25%) were hypertensive and diabetics. History of ischaemic heart disease was available in 25(31.25%), rheumatic heart disease in 20 (25%) with no history available in 20 (25%) patients. Atrial fibrillation was seen in 35 (43.75%) patients.
