The MCI Board of Governors has denied admissions for 150 MBBS seats in a medical college of Pathankot for the academic year 2019-20. Earlier in the year 2011, the central government permitted admissions of 150 seats but following the shortage of teaching facilities and a dearth of other infrastructural amenities, the college was denied admissions in 2012-13 and 2013-14. Further, a Supreme Court-appointed committee denied granting the admission seats as there was a complete failure on the college’s part in creating proper infrastructure in accordance with the MCI regulations.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health debarred the college from holding admissions in 2017-18 and 2018-19 academic years. Following this, the 2011-12 and 2014-15 batch of students were transferred to other medical colleges in accordance with the Supreme Court order. Source- Tribune
