The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC), Kakinada, has directed a private hospital and its cardiologist to pay ₹99 lakh in compensation, along with ₹10,000 towards litigation costs, after holding them liable for medical negligence in the treatment of a patient with serious cardiac complications. The Commission also ordered that ₹50 lakh of the compensation be deposited in a fixed deposit for the patient's minor daughter until she attains majority. According to the Commission, the patient was admitted on February 28, 2025, with acute anterior wall myocardial infarction and severe left ventricular dysfunction.
