A recent case provided a cost of one life that too of a Patient suffering from extremely rare and high mortality (more than 70%) to be 12 crores. A suspicious variety patient being treated by her husband with some unknown medicines, that too patient developing a rare immunological disease (her husband is a professor in immunology). He was taking her to Bombay in an open air environment although being a doctor had full knowledge that this could amount to her death.
Still instead of him being under investigation and facing charges, Doctors involved were fined with Rs 12 crores and still facing Criminal charges(one of them being not able to face the heat of civil and criminal charges left for heavenly abode and became a medical martyr) and IMA sleeping over the matter.
