As Surgery start from dressing & till date in 2015 we all are using gauge/ bandages & cotton pads for this purpose in Surgery. As in present era we have gauge coated with soframycin/ petroleum jelly called sofra Tulle etc. But costally, but has less friction injury to wound & due to this help in rapid healing of wound. Cotton pads are sterilised cotton slices covered by gauge layers surrounding from superior & inferior surface of cotton slices .
Then this cotton slices covered with gauge is called cotton pad & is routinely used for wounds of discharging nature / draining pus / blood / fluids. Plain / simple / cotton swabs use is dangerous to use in medical system as cotton dry or wet it always fibers in macro or micro form on skin smooth / wounded ( rough ) surface / phlebotomy site , & lead to adverse reactions like Foreign body Thrombosis / embolus formation. …
