The present pandemic of COVID 19 has again posed a challenge to medical science. Many of the developed countries have shown a dismal performance to control this pandemic. Most of the energy of modern science has been used in doing research for the destruction of mankind. In our own country when the need to control the epidemic was felt -A  103 years old act and its provisions were applied. The Indian epidemic act dates back to 1897  and was enacted by Britishers. For the last many years the health sector in India has been neglected by the Govt.

Since there was a void Pvt sector stepped in and instead of filling the gaps, it changed the priorities. The result- we are having five-star hospitals meant for rich and mighty. Even in the Govt sector, the major chunk of the budget has been allocated for tertiary care hospitals. But now COVID 19 is teaching us a lesson. Every step that was…
