Diabetes in older adults is associated with higher mortality, reduced functional status, and increased risk of institutionalization . Further, these older adults with diabetes are at substantial risk for both acute as well as chronic microvascular and cardiovascular comorbidities associated with the disease. To eliminate these risks, the proper glycemic targets should be attained that will focus on management of both hyperglycemia and risk factors.
