The COVID-19 pandemic serves as a sharp reminder that one of the most efficient measures to prevent virus propagation is: hand cleanliness. It not only prevents us from catching the infection but it also from spreading it to others. To defeat the virus now – and to be better prepared for future pandemics – universal hand hygiene access must become a reality for everyone, in all settings, particularly in health care facilities, schools, and crowded public areas.
