The Dean of a Pune general hospital has suspended two junior resident doctors for forcibly discharging a disabled patient in the early hours of July 22 nd . The 32-year-old patient was admitted to the orthopedic department of the hospital after a bus ran over his legs. In the early morning of July 22 nd , the junior doctors escorted the patient out of the hospital and abandoned him in an isolated area near a mental asylum. Next day, a CCTV footage emerged showing the patient abandoned under a tree, accompanied by two social workers.
This led the police to file an FIR against one of the doctors and another staff member under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act.
