A Doctor was sued for negligence for the death of a Woman with jaundice who was also diabetic and fined Rs 5 Lacs. Case:- A Woman came with pain abdomen. After reports of haemogram, SGPT, bilirubin, urine, USG abdomen was treated for jaundice. She was advised to take glucose. Woman conditions were deteriorated and died within 2 days.
The complaint was filed and the doctor was fined for negligence. The woman was diabetic and passing glucose in urine. Without proper assessment and monitoring of glucose, She was advised glucose for treatment of jaundice which was nothing else than jaundice. What is your opinion?
