In Dehradun, a woman approached the District Consumer Court in Haridwar, alleging medical negligence after she conceived and delivered a child despite having undergone a sterilization surgery. She claimed Rs 17.5 lakh as compensation, arguing that the failed procedure had caused her mental and financial distress. The sterilization was performed on November 5, 2015, by a doctor who also conducted a caesarean section. The complainant had been admitted as a case of G2P1L1 with 36 weeks and 3 days of gestation and one previous caesarean section.
As she was anaemic, one unit of blood was transfused.
