Nearly 1 in every 500 infants is born with pulmonary hypertension worldwide. Pulmonary hypertension is potentially fatal lung and heart disease especially in infants. There were no guidelines available until this year. The new guidelines have been published recently elaborating the management of pediatric pulmonary hypertension. Pediatric pulmonary hypertension is rare but fatal disease in newborn and infants.

In the majority of pediatric patients, pulmonary hypertension is idiopathic or associated with congenital heart disease. It is rarely associated with other conditions which are related to connective tissue or thromboembolic diseases. Due to the nonspecific symptoms, pediatric pulmonary hypertension is diagnosed in later stages.
