A vaccine subject expert committee of the Drug Controller General of India approved the market authorization for world's first dengue vaccine waiving a large-scale clinical trial for the same in India. A recent news published on Docplexus indicated that world's first dengue vaccine, effective against all four serotypes of dengue virus, manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur won regulatory approval in Mexico, paving its path towards India where dengue is already declared an endemic. This new vaccine has already completed its Phase III clinical trial in Thailand, Brazil, and Mexico.
The vaccine protected two-thirds of people against dengue in those aged 9 and older in two large clinical trials spanning Latin America and Asia, involving more than 40,000 children and adolescents.
