The things I wish someone had told me when I started my Ophthalmology residency instead of finding it out myself are below. 1. Books It is important to understand the difference between medical school and residency. Studies is very important for both but the study that you undertake during residency is to have practical value in patients that you see everyday. It is not to score high marks in tests and exams.
In fact most residencies in India have only one single set of exit exams at the end of a three year residency and no testing right through the residency except for your seminar and case presentations. So understanding Ophthalmology is more important than mugging up pages and pages to be vomited into exam papers. If I were a resident now- for books- I would keep the AAO's Basic and Clinical Science Course Complete Set as a starting point in any topic in Ophthalmology. For…
