The nasoalveolar molding technique involves the use of acrylic nasal stents attached to the vestibular shield of an oral molding plate. It helps to mold the nasal alar cartilage to the normal form and position. It addresses several shortcomings of the traditional approaches, including the deformity of the nasal cartilages in unilateral as well as bilateral clefts of the lip and palate, and the deficiency of columella tissue in infants with bilateral clefts.
To revisit the basics of the presurgical nasoalveolar molding (PNAM) technique, Docplexus has organized an informative Dent-E-ssentials session by Dr Pallavi Daigavane , covering the topic Basics of Presurgical Nasoalveolar Molding Technique in Infants with Cleft Lip and Palate on 25 th June 2021, 3:00 PM onwards .
