Although the addition of IV Dexamethasone to continued ranibizumab therapy reduces retinal thickness, it does not improve vision in patients with diabetic macular edema (DME), shows the findings of a recent study published in JAMA Ophthalmology. For diabetic macular edema (DME), IV ranibizumab (anti-vascular endothelial growth factor) improves visual acuity and limits retinal thickening. However, edema and reduced visual acuity persist almost 66% of eyes treated with at least six-monthly injections.
