The Dubai Health Authority has recently announced that all the hospitals in the city should immediately adopt the updated ‘Current Procedural Terminology’ (CPT) coding system copyrighted by the American Medical Association. The coding system will help in the elimination of fraud, wastage, and abuse of health insurance by rationalizing the prices of medical procedures and providing greater transparency in payments. Furthermore, this updated coding version will help patients seek insurance pre-approval and will expedite the process of insurance claims.
Furthermore, the CPT system will include all medical procedures which are present in a particular hospital and the payment system will be segregated based on bundles or package systems.
