Doctors at Jehangir Hospital have successfully performed a highly complex minimally invasive thoracoscopic lung surgery on a seven-year-old child diagnosed before birth with a rare congenital lung malformation, after a severe infection turned the long-standing condition life-threatening. The surgery was completed without major complications, marking a significant achievement in pediatric thoracic care and highlighting the growing capabilities of advanced minimally invasive surgery in India. The child had been prenatally diagnosed with Congenital Pulmonary Airway Malformation, a rare developmental condition in which abnormal cystic tissue forms inside the lungs.
