Diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) is a rare and potentially fatal hyperglycaemic crisis occurring in patients with both types of diabetic patients. The increasing prevalence and economic impact owing to the treatment and associated morbidity paves way for effective management and prevention. The key points of management include making the right diagnosis using the latest laboratory tools along with coordinating fluid resuscitation, insulin therapy, and electrolyte replacement.
