Hemophilia, a single gene defect disorder, is the most prevalent inherited bleeding disorder (due to clotting factor deficiency) with an occurrence of 1 in 10000 births. In untreated patients or patients with sub-optimal treatment, it progresses to chronic disability and premature mortality. However, in suitable cases, management can be done in a home setting. Home-based therapy lets early access to clotting factors and, hence, immediate treatment resulting in decreased pain, dysfunction, and long-term disability and significantly decreased hospital admissions for complications.
