Spondylolisthesis causes instability of the vertebral column and can occur to due to a number of causes. Diagnosis involves clinical examination and imaging modalities. Conservative and surgical management techniques have been employed. Spondylolisthesis occurs due to anterior displacement of a vertebral body in relation to the lower vertebras resulting in a misalignment of the spinal column.
The morphological defect usually involves the pars interarticularis. Facet joint arthropathy and posterior neural arch developmental defects also contribute to the pathology.
