A team of doctors in a private hospital in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, have successfully removed a four cm-long needle from the lung of a patient without using a knife. The patient was a 14-year-old girl who swallowed the needle accidentally while dressing. After taking X-ray images and a CT scan, doctors decided to remove the needle using bronchoscopy. They were able to safely remove the needle in three and a half minutes. The doctor’s team is receiving overwhelming praise after the news and a video demonstrating how doctors removed the needle using the bronchoscopy went viral on social media.
