Doctors at a renowned hospital in Bengaluru have successfully removed a tiny foreign object from the airway of a nine-month-old infant using an advanced hybrid bronchoscopy technique, preventing the need for open surgery and saving the child from potentially life-threatening complications. The infant, a cheerful toddler, suddenly began coughing and sputtering while playing at home. Although he appeared to recover after immediate first aid from his father, his parents remained concerned and rushed him to the emergency department.
Initial evaluations suggested that if a toy part had been swallowed, it had likely passed through the food pipe safely. However, over the next two days, he developed subtle symptoms including a mild cough, noisy breathing, a runny nose, and a low-grade fever. Given the persistence of these symptoms, doctors suspected foreign body aspiration and ordered an X-ray.โฆ
