Gujarat High Court has directed to the state government to give away the salary dues of about 10,000 government doctors . The order of court is in response to the petition filed by the Medical Officer’s Association. The petition stated that the government has not paid dearness allowance (DA) as well as non-practicing allowance (NPA) to the doctors, due to a faulty calculation between 2005 to 2009. It was mentioned that due to this issue, the salary of the doctors was reduced rather than getting a hike. The dues amount is expected to be around Rs1.25 lakh to Rs2.5 lakh per doctor.
The HC has ruled out in favour of doctors, declaring that government should pay off the salary dues of government doctors. This decision may benefit all the doctors who struggled through this issue. Would such issues hamper the quality of healthcare system? What is your opinion? Source: DNA India
