In Kochi, Pediatric Cardiologists created a 3D model of their 11-year old patient’s heart, to prep for surgery. The patient was diagnosed with the condition of Dextrocardia with ventricular septal defect and superior-inferior cardiac ventricles. The 3D printing technology helped the team of surgeons to create the replica of the patient’s heart in its real size and conduct a mock surgery on the model heart.

They claim that it helped them to reduce the time required for the surgery, acquire precision and avoid related complications. Source – Times of India What do you think of this innovation?
