A study published in the journal Human Psychopharmacology: Clinical and Experimental has suggested that vitamin B6 has an antagonizing effect on anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders. Multivitamins are also known to reduce stress levels. The study compared the efficacy of 100 mg of vitamin B6 and 1000 ug of vitamin B12 (50 times the daily allowance) administered in over 300 patients once daily with food for a month. The outcomes were measured by visual contrast detection.

The results showed a significant difference in the reduction of anxiety and depression and also increased surrounding suppression of visual contrast detection with vitamin B6 as compared to B12.
