Novartis, on 18th of September, announced the results of a much-awaited five-year-old, VERIFY clinical study at the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting. The study was initiated by the pharmaceutical giant to evaluate the long-term benefits of the early intervention combination treatment of metformin plus vildagliptin (Galvus, Novartis) in patients with type 2 diabetes miletus (T2DM).

According to the results, Galvus was observed to be superior to standard of care in newly diagnosed T2DM patients.
