It is evident that early detection of dementia allows patients to increase their cognitive activities and social engagements, which have been demonstrated to delay the progression of dementia. However, there is a significant proportion of the patients that remain undiagnosed in the early stages of their illness. In this regard, Indian neurologists have developed a 15-minute telephone-based test for early and long-distance detection of dementia.
Similar to other available diagnostic tests, this 15-minute phone test examines attention, language, memory and the capacity for planning and implementation.
