The 10th of November is observed as the World Keratoconus Day. National Keratoconus Foundation, along with its global members, aims to raise awareness about keratoconus (KC), to advocate for and educate those living with keratoconus. Keratoconus is a degenerative condition of the eye characterized by progressively thinner dome-shaped cornea in the center, that hampers vision.
Common symptoms of the condition include excessive eye rubbing, difficulty in seeing at night, and frequent headaches.4 Age, allergic inflammation, frequent eye-rubbing, and certain disorders like Down syndrome, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, osteogenesis imperfecta, and retinitis pigmentosa may cause keratoconus.
