Prostate cancer is most common cancer found in elderly with more than three-quarter of the cases occurring in men above 65 years of age. However, it has become a major health problem globally during the last few decades. Studies have shown that prostate cancer is the second most frequently diagnosed cancer in men worldwide and the fifth most common cancer overall. According to recent clinical findings, the cancer rates in India are lower than those seen in Western countries but increase in life expectancy and changes in lifestyles have increased the cancer occurrence.
