A woman’s skin is dramatically affected by pregnancy. Besides abdominal area, other parts of a woman’s skin are deeply impacted and these effects continue after delivery. Pregnancy induces major body changes in women. Especially, the abdominal area grows significantly as the baby grows.

This change in the body shape induces mechanical stress on the skin which can be visible in the form of stretch marks or break in skin structure. A study was conducted to evaluate the impacts of pregnancy on the mechanical properties of skin wherein, the suction test was performed to study areas of thighs and abdomen in pregnant and non-pregnant women.
