Highlights Luspatercept enhances erythroid maturation by binding transforming growth factor-beta ligands, and may aid in reducing the transfusion burden. The present study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of luspatercept in patients with transfusion-dependent beta-thalassemia. The patients receiving luspatercept showed a significantly greater reduction in the transfusion burden than the placebo group. More adverse events were reported in the study group as compared to the placebo group. Authors: Β  M.D. Cappellini, V. Viprakasit, A.T.
