Recently, one of my friends asked me to accompany him to visit a government teaching hospital, as a courtesy visit to see his relative who was a patient and admitted there. Even before entering inside the ward where he is admitted, we saw very poor status of the hospital premises. There are huge heaps of garbage including some hospital waste dispersed everywhere and even hanging from the windows, all along the outside walls of the passage of the corridors emitting an unbearable nasty smell and dirty appearance revealing a poor state of affairs there.
We found cleaning (Safaiwala) staff in a drunken state all gathered at one place leaving their duty places and chatting with one another without any fear of disciplinary action.
