Coronary artery bypass grafting is performed using the thoracic artery from the chest, saphenous vein from the legs, and radial artery from the arm. The radial artery is larger in diameter and simple to harvest. Open radial artery harvesting is performed by making a long incision along the forearm, which is susceptible to infection. In contrast, endoscopic radial artery harvesting (EAH) makes only two to three cm long incisions to harvest the artery. In addition, EAH results in lesser wound infections and neurological complications.
