Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocol consists of peri- and postoperative care principles aiming to reduce issues that delay recovery and post-surgical complications. Patients with head and neck cancer typically have a poor prognosis and a high perioperative complication rate. ERAS works towards overcoming these complications. Moreover, it can be implemented in various surgical specialties, including bariatric, cardiac, and gastrointestinal surgery.
