The application of artificial intelligence (AI) in nuclear imaging encompasses many ethical factors during data collection, model training, validation, and clinical use. The AI task force of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging has identified four predominant ethical risks, highlighting the requirement to ensure health justice. These risks include the privacy of data subjects, data quality and model efficacy, transparency of clinical performance, and fairness toward marginalized populations.
Therefore, the developers of AI-driven medical devices are recommended to minimize the ethical risks to patients by upholding the ethical dimensions of AI medical devices (AIMDs) in data collection, development, and evaluation (Table 1).
